Simply because we're not stupid, LG thought it was about time to do something and introduced their new W53 Smart LCDs that automatically brightness, and feature a cinema mode blacking out the rest of the screen when playing videos, a timer that reminds you to take a break, a proximity sensor…. All of these nice little things are available with LCDs from 18" to 27” with a full HD Resolution (21” to 27” only), a 50000:1 contrast ratio and a 2ms response time.

LG Display Unveils Sunlight Illuminated 14.1" LCD for Outdoor Use

Today LG Korea announced a new 14.1 LCD dedicated for notebooks designed for both indoor and outdoor use. An aAdaptive backlight isn't new, but here LG succeed in designing a screen that gives optimum visibility under all conditions. By switching from transmissive to reflective mode (the screen uses sunlight to illuminate itself) not only will you get a clear view of your screen display, but also improved battery lifespan (per LG).

LG Display Unveils Sunlight Illuminated LCD for Outdoor Use Company’s 14.1” Sunlight Illuminated LCD Reduces Power Consumption by 75% When Outdoors

Seoul, Korea ( Dec. 22, 2008 ) – LG Display Co., Ltd. [NYSE: LPL, KRX: 034220], a leading innovator of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, announced today that it has developed a 14.1 inch LCD panel for notebook PC that is illuminated by sunlight instead of the backlight unit when used outdoors. The company’s new, sunlight illuminated, energy efficient LCD panel will debut at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2009.

Leveraging LG Display’s “Backlight Data Signal Switching Technology”, the use of selective reflection plates in existing backlight panels enables the switch from reflective mode in a high luminance setting (sunlight) to transmissive mode in a low luminance setting (indoors and at night). This is the first LCD panel to allow users to easily switch from backlight use (transmissive mode) to outdoor reflective mode with the touch of a button.

The display’s outdoor energy consumption falls to one fourth the level of indoor energy consumption, providing a significant increase in battery life. While Backlight units in conventional notebooks can account for more than 75 percent of the total energy consumption used in LCD panels for notebooks.

In addition, this new product resolves visibility issues with a contrast ratio exceeding 9:1 when used outdoors in reflective mode. The display’s contrast ratio ranges from just 2:1 to 3:1 for conventional notebook PCs when used outdoors, implying difficulty in viewing the screen.

Mr. In-Byeong Kang, LG Display’s Vice President and Head of LCD Laboratory, noted, “Our environmentally friendly, 14.1 inch LCD for notebook PC overcomes the challenges of extending battery life in use of notebook PCs outdoors where isn’t likely to be power outlets, while providing superior outdoor visibility.”

LG introduced another Netbook for the Korean market, the Xnote Mini. As every netbook (Some of them Anyway) available on the market, it features 10-Inch LCD screen, an Intel Atom CPU, 160GB of HDD, 1.3 Mpix camera, 3-cells battery, but it doesn’t come with these cute Korean girl…
We don’t have any information regarding the price or release date.

Our new monitor features a 21.5” flat LCD anti-glare coating panel with a 1,920x1,080 resolution, RGB Analog / digital / HDMI inputs. The W2261V provides a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (up to 20,000:1), a response time of 5ms, and a viewing angle of 170 degrees.

Here's the latest ALL IN ONE phone from LG, the KC910. It's hard to categorize it, is it a PMP phone or a PHONE with pmp functions? 
 Basically we have a quad band GSM and 7.2Mbps HSDPA 14mm thick phone, and a 3” (400x240) screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, stuck together with a 8Mpix AF camera, a GPS, video recording features, TV out, both Dvix and Xvid video support...

So what is it exactly?

LG Electronics (LG), a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications, announced that it would launch the LG-KC910, the only 8 megapixel multimedia phone with a full touchscreen interface. The LG-KC910 boasts top-of-the-range camera capabilities and the latest multimedia features, all combined with a 3.0 inch full touchscreen.

“With our new flagship handset, the LG-KC910, we’ve once again combined a high-end camera with top-notch multimedia features and full touchscreen interface to provide the ultimate multimedia experience,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “According to our customers a full touchscreen interface is essential for fully utilizing high-end multimedia features and this is one of many areas where the LG-KC910 excels.”

The LG-KC910 is the perfect successor to the multi-million selling camera phone, LG Viewty. Like its predecessor, which debuted as the slimmest 5 megapixel phone, the LG-KC910 will be the slimmest 8 megapixel handset on the market at just 13.95 mm when released. This phone combines the latest multimedia features and an intuitive user interface evolved far beyond what Viewty offered. With this phone LG has created a multi-sensorial experience like no other, providing enhanced viewing enjoyment, superior sound and better use of touch.

The LG-KC910 leads the industry with its 8 megapixel camera, which is being developed to include Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, a xenon flash and ISO sensitivity up to 1600. Further strengthening the phone’s camera features are image stabilization, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection. An embedded GPS receiver gives the LG-KC910 the ability to geo-tag photos for later plotting on an interactive map. A variety of creative shot modes, so far only found on standalone digital cameras, will be included.

The handset’s perfect repertoire of high-end multimedia features provides the ultimate multi- sensorial experience. The LG-KC910 is the first handset for the global market to include Dolby Mobile, an integrated suite of audio processing technologies which brings depth and richness as well as clean, powerful bass to the music listening experience.

Video features are just as advanced as audio features. The LG-KC910 can record video from 5fps up to 120fps, which allows it to record in both fast and slow motion. The phone also plays DivX and Xvid movies straight out of the box, without the need for additional encoding.

A 3.0-inch WQVGA full touch LCD screen is the ideal canvas for experiencing and interacting with the LG-KC910’s multimedia features. A customizable interface, with numerous widgets and shortcuts, makes the phone’s myriad features even easier to use.

LG KF600

The KF600 (Finally) available in Korea!!

Whereas it is already available in Europe (KF600) and the USA (Venus), the LG-SH640 (or KH6400 or LH6400 according to the operator) landed in Korea and, to make things simple, it will be nicknamed " Phone Bikini". This slide HSDPA phone features a 3MegaPix camera , two screens, one basic and a second one which is touchscreen embedding the InteractPad technology allowing the possibility to customize the control pad, Bluetooth and many other features. It will be available in Korea from May 15 into 2 colors, Black and Red Wine.

The LG-KF700’s 3-inch full touchscreen provides easy access to features and widgets, an adaptive onscreen interface and a wide aspect ratio that is perfect for watching movies or browsing the internet.

The Shortcut Dial on the back of the phone quickly scrolls through six user-selected features by controlling a virtual dial on screen, eliminating the need to dig through menus. The Shortcut Dial can also be used to zoom in on web pages, scroll through e-mails or adjust volume.

The third input method on the LG-KF700 is its alpha-numeric keypad, a feature that customers asked LG to retain because of its familiarity and because it simplifies the process of making phone calls and is excellent for typing text messages.

Together, the LG-KF700’s input methods become even more powerful. When browsing the internet on the wide touchscreen, the shortcut dial zooms in and out on websites. When sending text messages, the alpha-numeric keypad provides all of the letters, while frequently used symbols are readily available on the touchscreen. These symbols change based on users text messaging habits.

One of the LG-KF700’s powerful multimedia features is a full featured Web browser that provides full access to Google Search, Blogs, Gmail, Maps and Youtube. Support for HSDPA 3G networks* makes web browsing extremely fast and makes other features like video telephony possible. LG unveiled yesterday their latest touchscreen cellphone dubbed the LG LH2300.
This new baby is CDMA EVDO compatible and features a 3 inches toucscreen (800x480px WVGA), 3MPx digital camera with autofocus and image stabilizer, DMB, new "Hello UI" user interface, BlueTooth 2.0, microSD port and many more things.

The LH2300 will be available in 2 colors: Grape Wine and Navy Blue and sold at approximatively 600.000 Won (more or less 380€) in Korea...as always, let's hope that it will go worldwide...
