JVC Rolls Out the World's Smallest 4K2K Ultra HD Projector

JVC introduced the world's smallest 4K2K ultra high definition 10Mpix projector, the DLA-SH4K. With JVC's new 1.27" 10Mpix D-ILA Technology, the SH4K projects images in 4096 x 2400 resolution. It comes with a multi-screen display mode that allow for viewing up to four Full HD screens at once.

This new projector provides a brightness of 3500 ANSI Lumens, and features four inputs DVI-D (Dual-Link), RS-232C/USB/Ethernet connections.

Denver, CO (September 3, 2008 ) – JVC unveils the world's smallest 4K2K ultra high definition projector, the DLA-SH4K. Based on the company's new proprietary 1.27-inch 10 megapixel D-ILA devices, the DLA-SH4K projects images at greater than 4 times the resolution and clarity of the industry's latest full high definition projectors. The higher resolution will bring a new level of reality to aircraft simulators, medical analysis, 3D display, command and control, museums, theme parks, and ultra high-end home theaters.

The DLA-SH4K will be unveiled at CEDIA September 3 – 6, 2008 and will be on display throughout the show in the JVC Theater located at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts next to the Denver convention center.

The projector's chassis achieves a remarkable 65% reduction in size compared with conventional projectors in its class. This was achieved in part by using JVC's latest 1.27-inch Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA) devices and a new optical system. D-ILA is a proprietary form of Liquid Crystal on Silicone (LCOS), a reflective technology that offers far greater pixel density than competing devices.

The D-ILA devices used in the DLA-SH4K provide a native 4096 x 2400 resolution—multi-screen display modes that allow users to view up to four Full HD screens at a time. A new optical design featuring an 825 Watt Xenon lamp generates a light output of 3500 ANSI Lumens and features adjustable lamp power that ranges from 825 to 660 watts.

Two DLA-SH4Ks can be stacked for increased light output. In addition, the projector can be inclined up to a ± 90-degree tilt angle and has a horizontal lens shift of ±25% and vertical shift of ±50%, which enables flexible installation.

The DLA-SH4K includes DVI-D (dual-link) x 4 input terminals that accept a wide variety of input resolutions. In addition to the RS-232C and USB connections, an Ethernet interface makes adjustment and installation from web browsers on PCs possible. Furthermore, networking allows multiple projectors to be operated with a single PC and an email function also enables the sending out of error messages and lamp replacement reminders.

JVC will offer two lenses for the projector, the GL-MS4015SZG 1.22x zoom lens for screens up to 300 inches, and the GL-MS4011SG short throw lens for screens up to 250 inches. Sanyo's Full HD Projector

PLV-Z700: New entry-level Full HD projector from Sanyo for European market

Today Sanyo announced a new entry-level Full HD PLV-Z700 home-use projector in Europe. This projector is very similar in external design to the PLV-Z2000 that was announced around this same time last year. Internally, however, there are some differences. The contrast ratio is 10,000:1 while the Z2000 is 15,000:1. Also, there are other minor differences, but we are very happy to hear that Sanyo has made an entry-level version of its very popular Z2000--maybe I can afford one now!

The new projector will be on sale from October 2008 in Europe and possible in the US, although we have yet to see the announcement from there.

Aiptek introduced, at Computex 2008, a very small projector with the PocketCinema V10 mini projector. Our device use 3M’s technology which will project a 50’’ inch image. This PocketCinema V10 features 1GB of internal memory, and 3-1 multicard reader (SD/MMC/MS Pro). Our mini projector also support JPEG ASF, AVI and MPEG-4 formats and is equipped with stereo speaker and built-in battery. But we don’t have further information about resolution, brightness or contrast ratio.

CHATSWORTH, Calif., April 15 SANYO, one of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD projectors announces the addition of two new LCD Multimedia Projector's, the PLC-ET30L and PLC-XT21/L, to their popular "T" Series of high brightness, high resolution projectors for the education and business presentation markets.

Offering a full 1400 x 1050 resolution and 10-Bit digital gamma correction, the PLC-ET30L makes it possible to project high-quality high definition images from virtually any location. Sanyo Smallest Projector

Sanyo Presents the Industry’s Smallest and Lightest LCD Projector

Today Sanyo announced a new ultraportable projector model, so small that you can carry it easily with one hand. (Even the model they hired to bring it out could do it.) The projector is planned to be sold worldwide, but the only date we have so far is the date for release in Japan -- April 21. It will sell for around 200,000 yen (USD$1999, according to current exchange rates...).

At the announcement the presenters said that these types of ultraportable projectors are seeing massive growth right now, up to a 32% average increase. With this in mind, Sanyo sees an opportunity for growth by making projectors smaller and lighter.

We already know that Sanyo has a large market share of the super huge cinema advertising projector market share and we know their projectors are used at large event venues, but we haven't really seen Sanyo making an attempt to win over the small office users--until recently. Back in January they announced a new widescreen wireless moviie projector, again for smaller office use. Today's model is unfortuantely 4:3 again. When will the big projector makers realize that the rest of the world is pushing for widescreen? At any rate, this small, ultraportable projector still has some pretty amazing features.

One feature that we found particularly interesting was the automatic keystone adjustment. To display this, Sanyo put the projector on a see-saw type mount and moved the projector up and down (not levelly, at an angle) and stopped at the top. Before we could blink the projector had adjusted its verticle keystone on the sides to be uniform. They did the same thing again by returning the projector to its original position, only more slowly this time. Every inch or so it moved down it was automatically adjusting. This model is so simple even the office's most untalented individual should be able to set it up and make it look good. We also liked the fact that such a small projector has 2000 lumens. All in all, a decent product, and surely you traveling salesman and you extra mobile folks will find this product useful!

Sony unveils two LCD business projectors for “larger-venue” applications

Sony is expanding its line of video projection systems for commercial applications with two new LCD models for larger-venues.

The new VPL-FW300L (7,000 lumens) and the VPL-FH300L (6,000 lumens) projector models are designed to deliver outstanding images while in the same room as the audience. This makes them ideal for smaller auditoriums, large classrooms and meeting rooms, museum exhibits, event centers, ballrooms and movie theaters for displaying pre-show content.

“There’s no ‘one size fits all’ option for large-venue projection needs,” said John Kaloukian, director of Sony Electronics’ professional display group. “For example, museums are featuring more full HD content in their exhibits and need HD capable projectors that show this footage quietly and effectively.

“Conversely, more movie theaters are incorporating pre-show content, including local advertisements and regional promotions, and they’re turning to LCD projectors that offer the necessary brightness, color accuracy and widescreen capabilities to fill a multiplex screen.”

Kaloukian added that although these new projectors use 3LCD technology, they are a perfect complement to Sony’s 4K large-venue projection systems, and fill an important niche in between current business projectors and the 4K large-venue systems.

The VPL-FW300L projector has a WXGA+ resolution of 1366 x 800, while the VPL-FH300L unit delivers resolution of 2048 x 1080. Both models are housed in the same chassis, and share the same type of lenses, lamps, and filters as well as the same connections and network functions.

The projectors feature Sony’s BrightEra™ imaging technology, which is based on an inorganic substrate and alignment layer to produce a stronger bonding of molecules. This makes the panel more resistant to damage from UV energy while allowing for an increased aperture ratio. As a result, Kaloukian said the brightness, resolution and panel reliability are all increased.

The projectors’ innovative round design also includes large-diameter fans and high-flow cooling air ductwork that lets the projector run cool while fan noise is decreased. These characteristics are the key reasons that these models can be effectively placed in the room with the audience without distracting from the event.

Users have a choice of five different standard lenses for excellent placement flexibility, and both models have a locking bayonet mount mechanism for easy lens changes.

Both models use dual 275W lamps to essentially eliminate the risk of a blackout in the event of lamp failure. Their opposing design configuration allows for projector tilting for mirror or other uses. The lamps have an expected life of 1500 (high) or 2500 (standard) hours. This use of low wattage lamps saves energy and running costs, which in turn helps the projector run cooler and quieter when compared with other offerings.

Different lamp modes are available: both lamps can be used simultaneously or only one at a time can be active, and in “auto lamp” mode, the projector automatically selects the lamp that has the fewest usage hours.

A design enhancement over previous models places the memory for the lamp timer on the lamp itself, reducing the need to manually reset lamp timers. Also, lamps that are moved will retain accurate time readings.

The projectors’ control panels are located on the sides for easy installation and maintenance. Cable management is simpler, with routing channels carrying cabling to the mounting point. Both projectors are also compatible with cable-hiding mounting systems.

The VPL-FW300L and the VPL-FH300L projectors are planned to be available in January, at suggested list prices of $27,000 and $40,000, respectively.
