New Mazda 6 MPS (Mazda Speed)
We know most of you appreciate the style of Mazda's latest sedan, so you should be pretty happy with this piece of news. The Mazda 6 MPS is on its way! Yeah!
Following the "Zoom Zoom" trend, the Mazda 6 MPS will be unveiled as a Concept-Car at the 2008 Paris Auto Show and, if you're familiar with this manufacturer, you know that what you'll see should be pretty darn close to what you'll get a couple months later at your local dealer. Unless they mess things up, but that's very unlikely.
The MPS version, which will go on sale in 2010, should rock a new and aggressive body kit, bigger wheels, chassis improvements, and a couple tweaks under the hood to help the 2.5L (4cyl) turbocharged engine to produce something around 280hp. Good thing is the drivetrain will be switched from front to all wheel drive making it a safer under bad conditions, yet heavier but more enjoyable to drive... Expect a 0-100kmh in 6 seconds and some change!
The funky little Mazda 2 hasn't been forgotten and if you LOVE the AutoExe version as much as I do, you should be pleased to hear about an MPS version, probably featuring a new body and more power. Unfortunately no info has yet come to our ears, but regarding motor displacement (1500cc), something in the region of 150hp to 175hp should be close to what we can expect from this little bomb.
PS: (May 9th 0: the 280hp of the Mazda 6 MPS version may actually come from a 3.7 liter V6.
